The College of Science and Mathematics' Problem-solving, Reasoning, and Engagement for Student Success (PRESS) Summer Bridge Program gives incoming first year students a strong start for their fall science and mathematics courses through enhancing students’ understanding of concepts needed for success. Program participants will:

  • Preview/review material in preparation for fall science or mathematics courses
  • Have active, engaging experiences doing science and mathematics
  • Learn with peers – work in small groups discussing and solving problems
  • Receive personalized support from faculty, peer mentors, and academic advisors
  • Explore ºÚÁÏÍø (KSU)
  • Engage in fun, social activities with other students
  • Receive KSU swag

How do I apply?

Thank you for your interest. The CSM PRESS applications open on April 15th, 2025. Application deadline is Monday, June 23rd, 2025.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and assigned prep courses will be sent out to accepted students’ KSU email by Tuesday, July 1st, 2025. Accepted students must confirm their participation by responding to the acceptance email by Wednesday, July 9th, 2025.

 

    • College Algebra (MATH 1111)
    • Precalculus (MATH 1113)
    • Calculus 1 (MATH 1190)
    • Intro Biology 1 (BIOL 1107)
    • Intro Chemistry 1 (CHEM 1211)
    • Organic Chemistry 1 (CHEM 3361) - offered week #1 only.
  • For 2025, all sessions will take place on the Kennesaw Campus.

    • Week 1 prep courses will take place Monday – Thursday, July 28th-31st from 8:30am – 2:30pm.  
    • Week 2 prep courses will take place Monday – Thursday, August 4th-7th from 8:30am – 2:30pm.

    Students must be available for the entire week. You may take at most one course each week. PRESS includes lunch and social activities.

  • For 2025, all sessions will take place on the Kennesaw Campus.

    Participants may be dropped off on Paulding Avenue in front of the Science Building (370 Paulding Ave NW; Kennesaw, GA 30144), C11 on the .  

    See parking information if there is a need to park on campus. If you are an incoming student that has already completed your parking requirements through orientation, you should have access to parking on campus during that time in your designated parking area.

  • Limited housing is available to first-time, full-time incoming students (20 spots) on a first-come, first-served basis for week #1. There is no cost for housing for PRESS. To be considered for housing, you must

    1. be over 18 years of age by July 1st, 2025 and
    2. registered for fall 2025 classes at ºÚÁÏÍø.

    *Note that housing is NOT available during Week #2. 

    • Is there a cost? There is no cost to participate in PRESS. Lunch and social activities will be provided.
    • What is the application process?
      • April 15, 2025 - Application open
      • June 23, 2025 - Application deadline
      • July 1, 2025 - Application acceptances are sent and housing assigned.
      • July 9, 2025 - Accepted students must confirm participation.
    • Who is eligible to participate in PRESS? Participants must be KSU students (incoming freshmen, transfer, continuing, returning) who are registered to take a science or mathematics course for the fall semester.
    • Is PRESS offered at night or on the weekend? At this time, PRESS is only offered in person Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-2:30pm, during the dates listed above. Students must be available for the entire week.
    • Do I get credit for this? No. PRESS is a preview/review of material in preparation for specific science or mathematics courses.
