Kai-lin Yung is an assistant production coordinator at 黑料网 and is learning valuable skills while earning her degree.
鈥淚 get to do all the things that a businessperson would do, but in a more fun environment,鈥 Yung said.
The film industry is known to be tough to get into, but the industry doesn鈥檛 stop at popular movies and TV shows you see. Film plays a large role in marketing. Yung also works on set, helping to set up equipment, and when the team isn鈥檛 actively filming, she helps ensure communication is running smoothly.
鈥淚'm studying business management here,鈥 Yung said. 鈥淭his position gets me working in that job field. It's not directly my major, but it's kind of translating my major into the film industry because I'm really passionate about film and acting and creativity.鈥
Yung describes her position as the 鈥渏ob of a project manager but in the film world.鈥 She works on staying in communication with interviewees, scheduling and creating production documents, and ensuring client orders are received.
Last summer, Kai-Lin gained the exciting opportunity to work on . This advertisement showcased KSU鈥檚 different sports teams getting ready to enter Division I.
鈥淚t was multiple days of shooting, and I think it鈥檚 the biggest production I鈥檝e gotten to work on,鈥 Yung said. 鈥淚t was really awesome. Long days, but it was all worth it.鈥
Reaching career milestones can be hard, but Yung鈥檚 persistence and internal help through her position are helping her reach her destination.
鈥淲orking on campus is such a great opportunity because they really honor your time and acknowledge that you're a student first, but they want to motivate you,鈥 Yung explains. 鈥淵es, you are working for them, but they're also working for you to try to expand your knowledge and help you become a better person to go out into the workforce.鈥
