KSU Libraries' Course Reserves service allows instructors to place physical items on reserve for your class for the duration of the semester.
- Materials may be the instructor’s own copies of books, CD's, DVD's or printed articles that you drop off.
- Instructors can also specify items from the collection that we will temporarily relocate to Reserves for your students.
- Simply fill in the e-form request, which instructors can find below in Submit Reserves - Faculty.
- Once an instructor submits a request and drops off the materials, please allow 5 business days for us to get them ready.
- As soon as the instructor receives an email that the request is completed students will have access to check items out.

It is the individual responsibility of all faculty, staff, and students to obtain copyright clearance. To Search for Reserve Items
- From our , change the search parameters from GIL-Find to Course Reserves using the dropdown next to the search box.
- Click on the Advanced Search link next to the Search button.
- From the first drop-down menu, select Course name, Course instructor, Course ID, or Course department. Then enter the course information in the next search box. Click on Search.
- All the reserved materials for the course will be listed. You may click on Details link to see the full description of the item or click on Get It link to see the checkout status.
Overdue and Lost Reserve Items
Note - As of June 2023, University Libraries no longer charges overdue fines.
- Delinquent accounts may result in an administrative hold that could prevent registration for future terms and possibly graduation.
- Lost or Damaged Items – Replacement copies are not accepted. The replacement cost is determined by the library.

Physical Reserve Items
Please fill out the form below to put a physical item (book, DVD, etc.) on reserve. Make sure to select the correct campus. Bring items to the Check Out Desk for processing. Please allow 5 business days for us to get them ready. You will receive an email notification when you can announce availability to your class.
Electronic Reserve Items
As of Spring 2025, University Libraries will no longer host electronic course reserves. If you plan to post in your D2L course, we recommend the following.
- Instructors are responsible for evaluating, on a case-by-case basis, whether the use of a copyrighted work requires permission or qualifies as a . If relying upon the fair use exception, instructors must complete a copy of the and keep for their records.
- Materials made available should include a citation to the original source of publication and a form of copyright notice.
- The copy of any material should be lawfully obtained.
- Access to course material should be restricted to students and instructors enrolled in and responsible for the course. Access should be terminated as soon as the student has completed the course.
- If the item is available through an electronic database, a link should be given rather than downloading and posting the material.
