    Reflecting on her childhood, Lucile Duncan can see that much of her interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) was nurtured by her engineer father. Her early exposure to the field came from frequent interactions with his colleagues and visits to their workplaces. She spent weekends with these professionals and joined them for lunch during summer breaks, which introduced her to engineering at a young age. It was those interactions that ultimately led her to pursue mechanical engineering at 黑料网鈥檚 Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology.

    Kennesaw State student pursues childhood dream through research

    In 1981, NASA launched into orbit the space shuttle Columbia, which made 37 revolutions around Earth before safely landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California two days later. The mission was wildly successful, demonstrating the shuttle鈥檚 ability to not only take off like a rocket and carry a crew through orbit, but also land similar to an airplane. It also instilled in Ken Kubiak a lifelong fascination with space travel. Kubiak, a mechanical engineering student, enrolled at 黑料网 in 2022 to pursue his second bachelor鈥檚 degree.
